Goodyear sets goal to completely replace petroleum-derived oil by 2040

By using soybean oil, Goodyear can reduce the amount of petroleum-based oil it uses by as much as 22 million gallons per year. Its rubber compounds are also easier to mix with the polymers used in compound formulations. This, in turn, can reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in the tire production process, which helps Goodyear achieve its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by 2023.
